Teaching English as a Foreign Language in Buenos Aires, Argentina
At Coca-Cola Corporation I taught three classes to employees who worked in various functions for the company and communicated daily with their English speaking counterparts in the United States. My adult students were nearly fluent at high intermediate and advanced levels which challenged my skills as a teacher to find communicative activities that would be effective enough to expand their language skills. Using a text for business english, all themes and vocabulary revolved around authentic materials pertaining to their daily needs which primarily consisted of oral comprehension of native connected speech and pragmatic instruction. Workshops where the students brought specific examples from their real world obstacles proved to be most effective.
